People who can't use this feature are the ones who "lose files"! This should be a prerequisite for people wanting to progress to word processing, e-mail and the internet.
Prerequisite: At LEAST Windows XP Basics - preferably Working with Windows OR Windows XP Proficiency.
Course Content: Use Windows Explorer. - Expand and contract folders.- Change the different folder views.- Make and remove a folder.- Use the View - File and Edit options on the menu bar. - Copy files to different folders and to flash drive. - Rename and delete files. - Copy – Move – Delete files. - Search for “missing” files.
Prerequisites: This is an ESSENTIAL course which everyone who uses Vista should attend. File management in Vista is very different from previous versions.
Course Content: Understanding file indexing related to searching – Use different panes in folder windows – Use folder links on Start Menu – Become familiar with context-sensitive options – Use Help and Support Centre – Copy and move files and folders – Compress files – Send files to e-mail recipients – Send files to other locations – Search from the Start Menu, within a folder and from the Search folder – Rename a batch of files – Delete files and folders.
Learn to assemble a computer from its various "bits". At the conclusion of the class, one of the participants may purchase the computer for the cost of the components. Full warranty is offered by the company which supplies the components.
The club has a recently donated computer and we have classes where you will see how to install software, configure particular important options, "Uninstall" (awful term!) software correctly and, of course, establish appropriate Restore Points.

Google is one of the major search engines on the Internet but it does so much more!
Course Content: Learn how to install and use the Toolbar, use Google Services and explore the following features: Images - Maps - Calculator - Blogs - News - Catalogues - Groups - Picasa as well as Google Mail and Google Earth. The features of this site are continually being expanded so more will be added to the course as necessary.
Using Adobe ReaderPortable Document Format (PDF) files have become the de facto Internet standard for document transfer. Understanding this program and its use of bookmarks and zooming will make things much easier for the user.
Course Content: Download and install - Set preferences - Automatic updates - Accessibility options - Use bookmarks - Zooming options - Use Help - Copy sections of a document - Print sections of a document - Use all Menu Bar options.
As well as our standard five weekly courses, we offer short courses which may be as short as an hour and a half or as long as three hours. The three hour courses may be either a full morning or a full afternoon session, or may be spread over a couple of weeks. We are constantly adding to our short courses as members indicate a special interest.
